NBA TV will celebrate the 20th anniversary of USA Basketball’s iconic team, The Dream Team, by premiering a documentary with the same title next month.

NBA.com revealed the news in a press release Thursday (May 17), calling the Ed Burns directed and written film the “definitive documentary of the historic 1992 USA Basketball team.”

It will feature recent interviews with all 12 members — including Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley.

The 90-minute documentary will showcase never-before-seen footage and untold stories of how the most dominant team ever assembled returned USA Basketball to glory, while turning basketball into a global phenomenon.

At the time, the world had rarely seen a frenzy as the one the Dream Team created when it arrived in Barcelona, Spain, in July 1992. The Dream Team was comprised of 11 future Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame players and three future Hall of Famers on the coaching staff, including head coach Chuck Daly.

“The Dream Team” documentary will take viewers on a behind-the-scenes journey into the selection of the team, the dynamic personalities, the legendary team-building experiences in training camp and exhibitions, and ultimately its rock-star-type unveiling in Barcelona.

Additionally, it will talk about their only loss, documented through rare footage from USA Basketball’s film library; the story of the greatest game never seen, featuring exclusive footage from 20 years ago in Monte Carlo when Magic and Jordan went head-to-head in practice; and more.

The 1992 U.S. Men’s Olympic basketball team, nicknamed the “Dream Team”, was the first American Olympic team to feature active NBA players. Considered (by many) to be the greatest team ever assembled in any sport, they defeated their opponents by an average of almost 44 points en route to the gold medal against Croatia at the 1992 Summer Olympics held in Barcelona.

The team included: Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Clyde Drexler, Patrick Ewing, Christian Laettner, Karl Malone, Chris Mullin, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, and John Stockton, as well as assistant coaches Lenny Wilkens, Mike Krzyzewski, and P.J. Carlesimo.

“The Dream Team” documentary will premiere on NBA TV on June 13, at 9 p.m. ET. For more info, visit NBA.com/NBATV.

Gatorade aired this dope commercial during NBA All-Star festivities over the weekend, in which coach Phil Jackson recounts Michael Jordan’s epic 1997 NBA Finals Game 5 performance, where he led the Bulls to victory 90-88. Oh, and he was suffering from the flu.

This game is forever etched into the memories of basketball fans, and made fans and Jackson, as he puts it in the clip: “a believer.”

“We had to help him into the locker room,” says Jackson. “It made me a believer. Not in luck, or fate, but in the will to win.”

Jordan scored 38 points that night, despite suffering from a stomach virus that had rendered him weak and dehydrated. Obviously, the brand shows him drinking Gatorade to rehydrate himself. A great short by Gatorade.

Growing up in the shadow of a famous parent is one thing, but when its the NBA’s G.O.A.T. (Michael Jordan), that’s another.

Marcus and Jeffrey Jordan get a lot of questions. Everything from what their favorite pair of Jordans are and how many pairs of sneakers they have, to did they go to all their father’s Bulls NBA games and if they got copies of his championship rings. So, with the questions lingering, the brothers have announced plans to launch a new website, Heir-Jordan.com, where they will give visitors a glimpse into their lifestyles.

It will be lifestyle-focused website offering an exclusive look into personal content, questions and subjects that have followed the two brothers growing up.

So far, not much has been announced about the forthcoming website, aside from a teaser trailer … in which Marcus and Jeffery give a sneak peak.

With the “NBA 2K12″ dropping Tuesday (October 4th), this new commercial for the latest installment “NBA 2K” hit the Internet this week … where several people offer their opinion on the greatest NBA team ever. Each person debates their best team — including NBA legend Michael Jordan, rapper Drake, and fans of the Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks.

“Today’s Miami Heat plays above the rim,” Drake argues. “Larry Bird couldn’t even reach the rim.”

Later, he elaborates: “South Beach is king.”

Jordan, however, picks his 1996 Chicago Bulls, and let’s his championship ring show you why. “I let my ring do my talking.”

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban clutches his Larry O’Brien trophy … and just shakes his head.
